Portrait Information
Some Background
I work from home and I am based in the seaside town of Ramsgate, Kent, but have travelled and painted all over the world as far afield as Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, America and Mexico to name but a few and once painted a mural at a Las Vegas Backpackers Hostel to get free accommodation, food and booze (see photo).
My main love is portraits on large, slightly tinted paper, using coloured chalk but my landscapes in water colours come a very close second. Sizes vary but are usually between A4 (12in x 8in – 30cm x 21cm) – A1 (32in x 24in – 84cm x 60cm) without mount and frame.
Although I have always drawn since I can remember, I had a period of some 10 years where I never even put pencil to paper but my love of art and drawing was rekindled one wet afternoon when I started to do a portrait of my beautiful daughter, on seeing this finished portrait I was asked to similar portraits of friends and work colleagues children.
As the requests and positive comments came in a close friend convinced me to start this website with the help of another friend and pursue my love of drawing and maybe see if I could do it full time and make a living out of it.
No matter what happens, I will always draw and paint, it puts a smile on the faces of the people I do it for and it makes me happy. I hope you enjoy my work and return soon, Peter.
Details
- Delivery is free within a 15 mile radius, any delivery further afield will be charged at a reasonable and competitive rate. Subsequently finished pictures can be picked up from my home address.
- All portraits are drawn freehand and personally by me. My prices are based on head, or head and shoulders studies with a basic background (ie sky effect).
- The finished portrait/watercolour is only as good as the picture given so take your time to pick an appropriate picture with as much detail as possible.
Getting Started
Contact me by phone or email with an idea of what you would like and if a deadline is involved. After we have discussed your requirements, confirmed the price and scheduled the work, delivery usually takes no longer than 2 - 3 weeks but if a strict deadline is involved, the time can be shortened if my schedule allows it.
- To start work a £40 non-refundable deposit is required. Bank transfer is preferred but a cheque or other can be accepted
- When finished a digital picture will be sent to your phone or email for your approval. Once you are satisfied I will require the full outstanding balance of your payment and will hand deliver or despatch your picture.
- I may place an image of your finished picture on my website and use it to publicise my work unless you request me not to.
NB: Prices can be reduced if a mount and frame are not required.
The Service
The whole process from the first line drawn to the final delivery takes between 2 – 3 weeks, but can be shortened if a portrait or painting is needed sooner and my schedule allows it. This will not affect the quality of the finished product.
Delivery
I can deliver for free within a 15 mile radius of Ramsgate, but further afield deliveries can either be arranged by you or me (if me, it will be done at the going rate as I make no money from deliveries). Also I am willing to hand deliver if my time and fuel are paid for or subsequently I have no objection to a product being picked up by yourself from my home address.
